How does CoolSculpting work?
CoolSculpting technology uses controlled cooling (Cryolipolysis) that specifically targets fat cells, causing fat cell death. The dead fat cells are then naturally eliminated by your body via your lymphatic system and processed as waste by your liver.
Is CoolSculpting safe?
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, safe and effective way to reduce stubborn unwanted fat. It has been FDA cleared for treatment of fat reduction in various parts of the body, including thighs, abdomen, flank, and submental (chin) area.
How do I know if I am a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
CoolSculpting is primarily used in helping remove unwanted stubborn areas of fat that usually resist diet and exercise. It is a non-surgical counterpart to liposuction. Almost everyone is a good candidate. However, CoolSculpting is not designed as a weight loss tool for obesity. During an initial consultation appointment, we will review your concerns along with you medical history, examine the areas of the body that can benefit from the procedure, and make an appropriate assessment.
What can I expect during the procedure?
A cool gel-pad is placed over the desired treatment area. A CoolSculpt applicator is then used to deliver constant and controlled cooling to the area with the assist of suction pressure. For best results, the area is then massaged for several minutes after each session.
Does CoolSculpting hurt?
Although the majority of people feel that the procedure is painless, some people will experience small amount of pressure and cold sensation during the first few minutes of the initial placement of the applicator. The rest of the time is usually spent watching tv, reading a book, surfing the web on a laptop, or even taking a nap. A small amount of discomfort can also be felt during the massage portion of the treatment.
Is the CoolSculpting fat reduction permanent?
Yes, the procedure causes permanent fat cell reduction, leading to permanent changes to your newly sculpted body.
How soon will I see results?
Many people see results 3 weeks after the initial treatment. However, the most dramatic results occur approximately 2-3 months after the initial treatment.
How long does the procedure take?
Each session lasts approximately an hour. Depending on the areas of concern, most people require two sessions to see desired results. These sessions are generally spaced 4-6 weeks apart.
Are there any side effects of the procedure?
Typical side effects include numbness, tingling, redness, bruising, swelling, and pain. These are almost always transient. Rare side effects can also occur. As with many procedures, there are some contraindications, including those diagnosed with cryglobulinemia, paroxysmal cold hemoglobulinuria, and cold agglutinin disease. Talk to your physician if CoolSculpting is right for you.
What happens if I gain weight after treatment?
The remaining fat cells that were not treated by CoolSculpting can enlarge. However, the resulting weight gain occurs evenly throughout your body. For best results, you should continue to maintain proper diet and regular exercise routine.
